New Business:

●Fitness in Hixon proposed by Judie Lukow: She messaged Emilia that she won’t make it to today’s meeting, but she would like to start some activities in Spring

●Christmas Lunch in The Hall proposal: Christmas Lunch snack, cards games, from 11am to 2pm on December 25th. Motion by Candace seconded by Debbie to use the hall for the event.Debbie and Candace will sponsor the food. Everyone, yes.

●Speed sign on hwy fundraiser (happy/sad face) we need to know the price ICBC will contribute $5000. Kaiti said that there should be a grant. Candace will figure out if PAC wants to be a part of the fundraiser. Kim asked how the signs are powered? Answer: they are solar. The question of maintenance: who would do that? Kim will check for approval if the signs that we would like to install have the correct certification. Art said that we need one person who will supervise the whole process. Motion by Kristine seconded by Candace to pursue the speed signs and ask Kaiti to take care of. Everybody, yes. Miranda asked about the speed sign to 80 that should be on the North side of the highway before the 60 sign. Kristine answered that we asked for it and they put it on the South side instead of the North. Art said that it would be worth following again. Emilia will check the old computer for the information/letter that was done before, according to the signs.

●Heat tape on the waterline: Pat tried to get a hold with Mark the plumber if there is a heat tape on the tap. Ryan said he would check it after the meeting. There is no heat tape on the tap.

●Community members rise a concern about water source at the community hall:

1: People use water and it spills everywhere into the driveway. This raises two major concerns: icy driveway- injures and flooded crawl space.

2: People suck water from the ground well and there would be no water for others that use the same source of water. Every week, the same person is filling up 100l tanks every week. It’s impossible that he use the water for personal use. A lot of people come from outside Hixon and use Hixon water for their cattle, to wash cars, etc. The water is for Hixon Community for personal use.Kristine and Ryan think about a water reducer that allows you to take water for the members and it will stop after 10-15 minutes depending on how we put it and shut the water off if the crawl space is flooded to prevent more damage. It will allow us to track the water. Pat said that we spent $400 every year to replace broken taps because people don’t use them correctly. One of the community members said that HCA cannot allow everyone to use huge amounts of water, the community hall water should be for drinking , not for cattle or toilets. Ryan said that with the water reducer it would be no problem. Pat asked why the fire hall stopped sharing water with the community, Ryan answered: the same reasons mentioned above (misused, spillage, broken equipment). Motion by Kristine seconded by Ryan to put the automatic meter/water reducer with the fob keys on the water line. Everyone, yes. Ryan will do some research about the fob system with the prices.

●Endowment grant for the Hixon Holler. Pat asked Art if the Hixon Holler qualified for the grant. Art thinks that we have other things that need grants: water fobs, signage, so the newsletter would be too much for January.

●Carefree society Christmas lights trip: Pat said that almost nobody signed up for December 7th, do we cancel that? Everyone said to cancel the 7th if no one signs in in the next day or two. For 17th there are 2 people right now. No cancellation yet, advertise more at the Christmas Market.

●Sign billboard: Kim proposed a billboard that we can change according to events on the road which would help in advertising events in Hixon. Art said that Kim needs to find a good location and check if the billboards have accreditation.

Old Business:

●Street lights on the school bus route Rick update: Rick wrote a letter to the ministry of transportation. Art helped with the list of the places that should have lamps. We are waiting for the answer.

●Wobbly display case Ryan update: It’s fixed.
