August Meeting Minutes 2025

Meeting called to order: 7:10 pm

Treasurer’s Report: $58683.48 balance
Motion to approve Treasurer’s report: Judy seconded by Candace
Old Business
- Hall renovation update: walls look great, price was $6178.88, plumber was paid for concession stove repair, fence around the AC units was for free
- Motion to pay monthly to Orkin, all in favour.
New Business
-Septic tank (Art’s proposition) It’s been 5 years since the septic tank was pumped. The price will be lower if we combine pumping with other interested individuals. Motion by Kim to pump the community hall septic tank on August 26th and add pumping out Art’s to save on transportation: all in favour.
-Fitness classes Jodie Lukow would like to offer free fitness classes for the community in the Hall. She could use the hall for free, HCA will be a sponsor of the classes for insurance purposes.
-Regional District public hearing is set for August 27th 7:00pm. RD is paying a regular price for the rental.
– Hixon Theater- winter production, use the hall for practice and performance
-Cleaning the hall: motion by Kim seconded by Kristine to pay $90 to Estera Kawelska (3 hours of cleaning, vacuuming and mopping the floors). Judy thinks that $25 should be enough for an hour of cleaning. Emilia said that for that price Estera won’t do the job. We need to find someone else.
– Carefree Society transportation: they do an assessment to determine who would be interested in Hixon in using their services. The owner of Carefree Society is welcome to come to the next meeting.
-Pat reimbursement: motion by Candace seconded by Judy to pay Pat $200 for gas as she collected most of the donations for a fall fair from PG and Quesnel. All in favour.
