April Meeting Minutes 2025

Date: April 1st, 2025

Meeting called to order: 5:30 pm

Attending: Judy, Kristine, Kim, Pat, Emilia, Candace

Guests: Barbara, Jacob, Art, Dan, Shane

Motion to approve agenda: Judy seconded by Kristine

Motion to approve previous minutes: Kristine seconded by Judy

Treasurer’s Report : $95 656.95 in total; $33420.43 are grants; $63420.43 the rest

Motion to approve Treasurer’s report: Barbara seconded by Judy

Old Business

-Emergency information signage Kim did the signage it will be put up this month

-Grants update: HCA received a grant of $30,000 from Northern Development Initiative

Trust for renovation. $3700 is back from the welcome package.

-Hall renovation: In total from grants HCA have $70,000 for the ceiling renovation

Kristine and Pat reached to builders for re-estimation and starting date, we are waiting

for answers

-Water on demand: Mark will reach Pat about pricing. Art suggests seeking more about

the efficiency, because every equipment is different, Shane adds that a lot depends on

temperature of the groundwater, if it’s cold it takes a lot of energy to heat it up. It’s

necessary to gather more information.

-Hixon Hall Maintenance during summer will be taken care of by Jacob. He agreed to the

Hixon Hall Maintenance list and added that he needed to be reimbursed for air filter

change once a year which was approved. Motion to choose Jacob: Kristine seconded by

Judy, all in favour.

-Easter Brunch: 8:30- 9:00 am set up for brunch, Hannah will do face paint, We are

waiting for people to register to know how many goodie bags we need to prepare for

children.

-Next Fall Fair meeting May 6th 6:30 pm

-Fall Fair donation lis:; Emilia will email it in a small version

New Business-

Spring Cleaning date May 4th 10:00

-Local businesses Judy came with the idea to advertise local businesses in the Hixon

Holler or flayer. Pat would like to take money for that, Emilia and Kristine told that

people wouldn’t pay. Discussion was postponed to the next meeting. Pat brought that

money for the Hixon Holler won’t last for long.

-Do we want Hixon to be featured in Destination British Columbia? Motion to have

Activities in Hixon featured for free in Destination British Columbia by Kristine seconded

by Pat: everyone yes but we need more information how it would look like.

-Trials in Hixon Recreational Property need maintenance: Art will check the trail
