September Meeting Minutes

September 5th, 2023

Meeting called to order: 5:31pm

Treasurer’s Report : $ Fall Fair spent $8, 530.01, Difference of $9, 022.22

$ 93, 268.43 in our account includes Grants. Grants $34, 294.07, Remaining $61,552.31

Motion to approve Treasurer’s report: Candace, Seconded by Dan

Old Business:

  • Grounds Maintenance hours and receipts – Jake spent 20 hours mowing and doing grounds clean up in the month of August, spent $70 to get rid of hornets nests. 
  • First Aid Course September 23rd – Caden to share a poster. Quote – $ 150/person and can have up to 18 people. Level C, basic first aid with a child. $800.00 in grant left over to go towards the first aid course. No age requirements, Participants of any age are welcome provided they are able to participate. Cost is $75.00 as Association will cover 50% of each seat. Deadline is September 18th to sign up. Motion to cover 50% per person made by Candace, Seconded by Pat. E-transfer hixonhall@gmail.com. 

New Business:

  • AGM – Third Tuesday of October, which is October 17th @ 7:30pm. Positions open are President and Vice President. Incoming members – we need intense fundraising and grant writing experience. Membership fees will be due at that time.
  • Fundraising for Roof – find out bottle depot account number. Grant writing to be done. 50/50 draws.
  • Halloween Dance – Sherry Thompson – Proposing 13+ Halloween Gala 6pm-10pm. 250 people. 50% to the community 50% to the band. October 28th. 13 year olds need to be accompanied by an adult. Potluck snack 10-11pm. Band is Old time fiddlers , 3 bands within one. Prizes for spot dances and best costume. Volunteers would be needed and the association is not able to offer volunteers for this. Sherry will not be moving forward with the dance. 
  • Core/PAL Course – Barb Metcalf is wondering about using the hall for the course(s). We ask that they make a donation to the hall. Barb will get the details and see if she can arrange a core course before the winter. Barb will bring all information to the next meeting.
